This two story steel and concrete recreation pier was restored in 1992 adding new stairways, an elevator, restrooms, pier master office and a warming kitchen. The pier has since become a haven for community groups, schools and public functions and heralded the revitalization of downtown Yonkers and waterfront development all along the Hudson River. Substantial research and creative efforts led to restored detailing of steel archways, railings and decorative treatments. The pier received a design award from the Westchester/Mid-Hudson Chapter of the AIA and a design award from The Waterfront Center.
